PORTRAY (previously Satu Bumi Jaya) is a network of creatives from across the world – writers, film makers, photographers and designers – with extensive experience, understanding and engagement with communities, development programmes and stakeholders across Asia-Pacific and globally. Our goal is to tell stories directly from those who we seek to support and empower. We don’t just document, we engage; ensuring ownership of stories for communities, and promoting the voices, hopes and challenges of those so often left out. Our methods are inclusive, not invasive. All aspects of our impact are considered and aligned to ensure the comfort and ease required to obtain real and meaningful information and stories of change. Our work speaks for itself.

In 2023, to answer a growing regional and international demand for our storytelling services and networks, our Indonesian-based Satu Bumi Jaya team re-branded to become PORTRAY. We are now engaged in multiple continents around the world, however – with support from our growing network of in-country film teams – we continue to provide the same quality and personalized storytelling projects for development clients and global communities. Our home base remains in Bali, Indonesia, and registered as PT Satu Bumi Jaya, while we have also registered business operations in Australia under the name Portray Stories.
